Presently Matt is the Varsity O-Line Coach at Cinco Ranch HS in Katy, Texas (West Houston Metro).

His college playing career started at Colby HS in Colby, KS where he was named to numerous All-District, All-Area and All-State teams. He continued playing at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, KS where he was fortunate enough to participate in the Midwest Bowl (1991) and the Valley of the Sun Bowl (1992). He continued and finished his playing career at the University of Richmond, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Sport Sciences degree. He received his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2009. Coach Farmer has experience playing at several positions along the offensive line, tight end, defensive line and punter.
Coach Farmer has over 13 years of coaching experience in Virginia, Colorado and Texas. He has coached all offensive positions, as well as the defensive line. He has served in the capacities of Offensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, as well as, position coach in his career. His has been blessed to coach in programs whose combined record over his career is 92-33 with five District Championships, nine playoff berths and one Texas 5A state finals appearance. Coach Farmer has a unique ability to motivate and elevate his players and coaches around him. Coach Farmer has been married to his wife Kellie for five years. The couple just welcomed their first child, Jacob, in July.
